The North East’s biggest and best 10k takes runners on a journey through Newcastle city centre and past some the city’s most iconic sights. You'll get to cross the Tyne Bridge not once, but twice! You can expect a party atmosphere and roaring local support with music and charity cheer points all along the route. Route information
Starting on the Great North Road, runners pass across the iconic Tyne Bridge twice, before weaving through Newcastle city centre. Runners will take in famous landmarks on route including The Sage, Grey’s Monument, Eldon Square, Laing Art Gallery, Newcastle Civic Centre, Haymarket; and Great North Museum.
A grandstand finish awaits at the finish line on the Great North Road, and the celebrations continue in the Apres Run zone in the event village on the Town Moor.

Ensure you plan your journey to the start line in advance of the big day as there will be a number of road closures in place and your usual routes into the city may not be available.
These will be confirmed closer to event day.
Event day logistics
Start Times
Your start time and wave allocation will be based on your estimated finish time when you enter. You can determine what wave you are in by looking at your race number, which you will receive in your race pack. The background colour of the race number and letter will determine which zone runners are in.
Full details of wave assembly points and start times can be found in your race pack and in the information guide which can be downloaded from the event page on the website.
Age Requirements
Entrants must be 15 and older to enter the 10k.
Race Packs
Your race pack will be sent out in the post approximately 3 weeks before the event. It will include your race number and your timing chip.
There will be Great Run Information points on the day for if you have any last minute queries.
Sweep Vehicle
There are no cut-off times but there is a sweep vehicle as the organiser is under pressure to open the closed roads.
