The AJ Bell Great North 5k is the curtain-raiser event for the North East’s biggest weekend of sport: the AJ Bell Great North Run.

It’s a fun and flat 5k run around Newcastle and Gateshead’s vibrant Quayside and, like all Great Runs, it’s packed with phenomenal local support and entertainment.

As well as iconic Tyneside views, an electric atmosphere and an incredible feeling of achievement, runners will also find a medal and an exclusive finisher t-shirt at the finish line.

It’s Friday night: go forth and celebrate in one of the UK’s top cities for partying!

Route information

Runners will love this waterfront 5k in Newcastle. Runners will cross the Swing Bridge and travel along the waterfront, past a buzzing musical zone before looping back round towards Millennium Bridge and across the finish line.

Age Requirements

Entrants must be 14 and older to enter the 5k.

If your race pack doesn't arrive in advance of the event please contact the organiser at https://www.greatrun.org/contact/ who can verify your entry and give you details on how to collect a replacement pack on race weekend. There will be Great Run Information points on the day for if you have any last minute queries.

Sweep Vehicle

There are no cut-off times but there is a sweep vehicle as the organiser is under pressure to open the closed roads.
