Do something Mighty for Macmillan! Set yourself an exciting new challenge and hike a full or half marathon around the iconic Giant’s Causeway!
Whether you’re new to long-distance walking or a regular rambler, we’ll be there to support you every step of the way. All you need to do is put one foot in front of the other, knowing every mile and every pound you raise will make a Mighty difference to people with cancer.

Route information

The Giant’s Causeway Mighty Hike will get your heart pumping as you set off from Ballycastle and tackle the cliff tops! But with each climb, you’ll be rewarded with stunning views including Rathlin Island, before making your way towards the iconic Giant’s Causeway and beautiful beaches in Portrush.

Get full directions
Parking for our full and half marathon hikers is at Ulster University, BT52 1SA.
Free shuttle buses will run to the start line in the morning of the hike. There will also be free shuttle buses from the half marathon finish line to the car park in the afternoon.
You can book parking when you register.

Event day logistics

The hike will set off in waves 20 minutes apart, from 6.30am for the full marathon and 9.10am for the half marathon.
You will book your start wave when you register. These are given on a first-come, first-served basis and we advise hikers with a slow pace to book the earliest start wave available to give plenty of time to complete the route.
For the full marathon, we estimate that the fastest walkers will finish in around 7.5 hours while the slowest walkers could take around 12.5 hours.
For the half marathon, we estimate that the fastest walkers will finish in around 4 hours while the slowest walkers could take around 6 hours.
