Route information

Choices! Take on one of these challenging distances this coming June, choosing from a Half Marathon, 10 Miles, or 5 Miles in distance.
Set in the historic market town of Hitchin in North Hertfordshire, the event has the uniqueness of having a town centre start and finish to add to the beautiful routes that will take you on a journey through the North Hertfordshire countryside and lanes.
The Hitchin Half Marathon is a challenging, hilly course designed to push you to your limits. From the moment you leave the grounds of the Priory, you head out into Charlton village and then you encounter the first climb going up into Preston.
Then you will head around the local area before returning back towards Charlton and then finally back into Hitchin to finish off in the market square. The course is hilly and undulating but does have some flat areas too, especially on the way back towards Hitchin after around 11 miles. It is not a PB course, this is a challenge, we won't dress it up as something else other than an experience you should try!
The Half Marathon itself is predominantly road and paths, with less than 5% being off road but still on suitable surfaces.
For 2026 we now have the added routes for those not ready to take on 13.1 miles, such as the tough 10 miler and the Fierce 5 miler, little brutes in their own ways!
