Take on the Epping Forest 50k or 25k to test your Ultrarunning ability this autumn. The out and back route from Wanstead to the top of Epping Forest is truly picturesque so take in the fantastic scenery as you run. Come to earn your finisher's medal and ultra running stripes.

50k Ultra
Distance: 50k Terrain: Paths / muddy Elevation: 514m ascent / descent
The Epping Forest 50k will take you on a hilly out and back route from East London, starting in Wanstead Flats, opposite the Golden Fleece Pub. You will travel through fantastic parks all the way to Epping Forest. This race is in autumn so expect the wet weather and muddy terrain.
EcoTrail 25
Distance: 25k
Terrain: Paths / muddy
The 25k event starts at the top of Epping Forest, near Epping Foresters Cricket Club. The route is south to Wanstead Flats, finishing opposite the Golden Fleece pub. The 25k is the second half of the 50k route (which is an "out and back"). The two races, the 25k and the Ultra, therefore merge together, providing endless amounts of forest trail camaraderie amongst the runners.

What kit do I need for the Epping Forest 50k Ultra Marathon?
Mandatory kit: fully charged mobile phone. Enough nutrition to last between Aid Stations. Rain jacket / dry top if inclement weather forecast. Recommended: trail shoes, can be muddy in Epping Forest.
Are there aid stations at the Epping Forest 50k Ultra Marathon?
Yes, the major Aid Stations are Butlers Retreat at 12.5k (for both 25k and 50k runners), the turnaround point at 25k (for the 50k runners), Butlers Retreat at 37.5k (for the 50k runners). In addition for 2024 we will have 2 mobile Aid Stations carrying fluids / gels / bars / snacks situated between Wanstead Flats and Butlers Retreat, and Butlers Retreat and the top of Epping Forest. Look out for Camino Angels to help you re-stock should you require anything.
When will I get my race pack for the Epping Forest 50k Ultra Marathon?
