Route information

Located at West Benridge Farm, Morpeth (Northumberland), the route runs over farmland, scenic trails, and ancient woodland.
Expect a flat and fast course with around 200 ft of ascent and descent per loop, giving everyone the best chance to go the distance.
The course is fully marked, looping back each hour to the main HQ field where food, first aid, and your personal camp area await.

Event Location:
West Benridge Farm, Morpeth, Northumberland

By Car:
The farm is easily accessible from the A1.
From the North: Take the Morpeth turn-off from the A1 and follow signs to Benridge Farm.
From the South: Exit the A1 at the A197 Morpeth turn-off and follow Heart & Soul Racing signage to the event site.
Free parking is available in the field adjacent to the farm, approximately 100 m from the race HQ.
Please note: no vehicles are allowed in the main athlete or crew camping areas.
By Train:
The nearest station is Morpeth, just a 5-minute taxi ride to the event site. Regular services run from Newcastle, Edinburgh, and other major northern routes.
By Air:
Newcastle International Airport is approximately 25 minutes from the venue by car or taxi.
Local Area:
Morpeth town centre is just a few miles away with accommodation, shops, and cafés for those travelling in early.

Event day logistics

Race Day Logistics
Arrival & Setup:
The event site at West Benridge Farm, Morpeth opens from 8:00 AM on race morning. Please do not arrive before this time. Free parking is available in the field adjacent to the farm — it’s a short 100 m walk to the main HQ. No vehicles are allowed in the athlete or crew camping areas.
Registration:
Collect your bib number and check in at HQ between 8:00 – 10:30 AM.
All numbers are collected on the day — no postal options.
Race Brief:
The mandatory race briefing will take place at 10:30 AM by the start corral.
Start Time:
The first lap begins at 11:00 AM sharp. Three warning whistles will sound at 3, 2, and 1 minute before every start. Runners must be in the corral and ready when the bell rings — late starts are not permitted.
The Format:
Every hour, on the hour, runners complete a 4.167-mile (6.7 km) loop. You must finish within 60 minutes to continue. The next loop begins immediately on the hour. The race continues until only one runner remains — the Last Standing.

Toilets and first aid tent
Free water, hot water, and drinks station for athletes
Food vendors serving hot food and snacks (payable separately)
Small charging area (bring power banks)
Camping for athletes and crew
Fires allowed only in the overflow camping field
Finish:
The event ends when one athlete completes a solo loop. All other runners will receive a DNF, no matter how far they go — because that’s how Backyard Ultras work.
Stay & Support:
Athletes and crews are encouraged to stay on site to cheer, support, and enjoy the atmosphere. The live stream and professional media coverage will continue until the final lap is complete.
