Route information

The Newbury 10k returns in 2026 for the 16th time. The multi -terrain race will start and finish in a vibrant atmosphere at the centre of the idyllic market town. There is a gentle climb for the first 3km, followed by a short descent and the rest of the course is flat. Approximately 7km of the course is on the road, with the remainder taking place on footpaths in beautiful surrounding countryside and along the tow path of the Kennet and Avon Canal, which passes directly through the town centre. Improvements made in the last few years have removed some of the more narrow and uneven paths from the course, and the route is expected to be unchanged from 2025.
This event warmly welcomes entries from runners of all abilities, from novices to experienced athletes. All 10k competitors will be rewarded with plenty of support, water stations and a medal & t-shirt at the finish.
There will be two pre-event fun runs for under 15s which take place on closed roads in the town centre ‒ enter your children early to avoid disappointment as places are strictly limited. All fun run finishers will get a medal.
There is plenty of parking close to the race HQ, and an abundance of local cafés and restaurants offering post-race refreshments for runners and spectators.

Based in nearby Thatcham, Swings & Smiles provides vital support for disabled children & their families, with a wide range of complex needs across Berkshire. With more than 1,500 families registered, they offer respite care, family play sessions, youth clubs, sibling support and outreach. Every visit to their fully accessible centre gives children and their families a place to relax, connect and thrive — and by running the Newbury 10k, you’ll be helping to keep this support going for local families who truly rely on it.
Sponsors
The organisers are immensely grateful for the generous support of this year's event sponsors:
Mark Flitton Ltd
Without their encouragement and financial contributions, it simply would not be possible to stage the race and raise funds for the charities.
Race Packs
Rack packs will available to pick up from one week before the race. If you have received your race number, you do not need to register on arrival. Anyone entering after Monday 4th May, or unable to collect their pack in advance, will need to collect it on the day from the race HQ which will open at 08:00.
Cut-Off Time
There will be a cut-off time of 1 hour 40 minutes in the 10k, after which time competitors will be on the course at their own risk without support from marshals and timekeepers.
Wheelchairs and Pushchairs
Unfortunately, the 10k course is not suitable for wheelchair users or pushchairs due to some narrow sections and uneven ground.
Dogs
Runners cannot be accompanied by dogs.
Changing and Bag Drop
Competitors are encouraged to arrive changed, but there will be limited changing facilities at the race HQ, where you can also leave your bag. The organiser will provide you with a numbered bag tag on the day. Bags are left at your own risk.
Finisher t-shirts
To assist with ordering, entrants will be asked to state the preferred size of their finisher's t-shirt at the time of entry. However the organisers cannot guarantee this size will be available for collection at the end of the race due to ordering lead times.
Toilets
Please use the facilities provided and respect the local residents. Free toilets will be available from 8:00am until noon, including at the race HQ. See your race pack for more details.
