Route information
The Outlaw Holkham Weekend hosts a range of events against the stunning backdrop of Holkham Hall in beautiful North Norfolk. There’s onsite camping and this is a great opportunity for everyone in the family to get involved and enjoy a weekend of multisport in fabulous surroundings.
Saturday will host the Outlaw Holkham Gravel Sprint, a traffic free event within the estate walls as well the ever popular Holkham 10k.
On Sunday, we have the ever-popular Outlaw Holkham Half, our award-winning middle distance triathlon, which passes through countryside and villages. It also has a 2 or 3 person relay option, so you can take part with friends or family, each person doing a different leg and coming together to cross the finish line. There’s also the Aquabike event which will take place alongside it - fantastic for those who prefer a run-free format.
Outlaw Holkham Half
1.2 mile swim, 56 mile bike, 13.1 mile run
The 1.2 mile swim takes place in the stunning private lake at Holkham Estate, set against the impressive backdrop of Holkham Hall. Athletes will start in a time trial format, completing a single loop that takes them to the far end of the lake, around the island, and back to the Transition area positioned directly in front of the Hall.
The 56 mile bike course takes you out of the estate onto a single-lap, undulating route through some of the most beautiful countryside and coastal roads North Norfolk has to offer, including past Sandringham Estate. Best described as rolling, it isn’t flat, but there are no steep gradients to contend with. On your return, you'll climb up to the Obelisk, where you can admire the stunning views before descending into T2.
The 13.1 mile run kicks off with a climb back to the Obelisk before you take on the first of three laps around the spectacular Holkham Estate. The undulating roads and tracks, the breathtaking scenery, and the incredible crowd support will drive you on as you push through the final miles. You’ll pass the finish area a couple of times before soaking up the roar of the crowd and making your triumphant sprint down the orange carpet.
Minimum Age - Individual: 18 by 31 December 2026, Relay - Swim: 17 by 31 December 2026, Bike: 17 by 31 December 2026, Run: 18 by 31 December 2026. Please note - 17 year olds may only complete one of the Swim or Bike legs.
Outlaw Holkham Aquabike
1.2 mile swim, 56 mile bike
This event follows the same route as the Triathlon, your race finish time will be taken when you cross the timing mat as you return to transition after your bike leg. Once you have racked you can then walk, jog or run to the orange carpet for your finish celebrations and collect your medal. This event is ideal for those who want to challenge themselves and enjoy the Outlaw experience, but either don't want to or find themselves unable to run.
Minimum Age: 18 by 31 December 2026
Outlaw Holkham Gravel Sprint
750m swim, 18.5 km bike, 5km run
The 750m open water swim distance takes place in the stunning private lake at Holkham Estate, set against the impressive backdrop of Holkham Hall. You'll be fully supported throughout the swim, with a qualified swim safety team to ensure you feel confident and secure.
The 20km bike course takes you on a scenic journey through the estate. The undulating route takes place off-road, on the trails, farm and gravel roads within the Estate. We recommend using a gravel, cyclocross, mountain or sturdy hybrid bike. Though the course isn’t technical, getting some practice riding on various types of surfaces, including grass and gravel, would be a benefit.
The 5km run takes you around the stunning farmland and grounds before soaking up the roar of the crowd as you make your triumphant sprint down the orange carpet. The run is primarily on grass trails and footpaths close to the main event area, which is ideal for spectators! We’d recommend wearing a light trail shoe or a road shoe with good grip for this route.
Minimum Age: 15 years by 31 December 2026
Holkham 10k
This single-lap 10km run event takes place within the stunning grounds of the historic Holkham Estate.
Starting next to Holkham Hall, you will follow the internal main roads and farm roads on a route that takes in the Walled Garden, Longlands, the Great Barns and the Obelisk. This is an undulating route with climbs that reward you with stunning views followed by a fast descent to the carpeted finishing line at the back of the Hall. The route takes you on a mixture of tarmac and farm roads including some loose stones underfoot. A comfortable road shoe or light trail shoe is recommended.
Minimum Age: 15 years by race day.
Future Outlaw
The Future Outlaw focuses on fun and participation, looking to get the next generation of Outlaws involved in the fun of the weekend. This popular children’s running event offers a choice of a 1 or 2 laps, which are easy to navigate and finish on the orange carpet in front of the grandstand. Parents are welcome to run with their children if they wish.
