Quayside 5k, Junior 3k & U11 Kids Race
Get ready for the Spring Edition Quayside races, proudly delivered in partnership with Wallsend Harriers & AC. The event features the Quayside 5k, the Junior Quayside 3k, and a fun U11 Kids Race, all taking place along the scenic Quayside riverside path.
The Quayside 5k doubles as the NECAA (North East Counties Athletics Association) Championships and hosts the famous Wallsend Harriers Terry O’Gara Trophy, attracting top athletes from across the region.
Runners will enjoy a flat, fast, and World Athletics measured course, perfect for PBs or a first-time challenge. The route offers stunning riverside views, with iconic sights including the Swing Bridge, High Level Bridge, Queen Elizabeth II Bridge, King Edward VII Bridge, Redheugh Bridge, and finishes over the Millennium Bridge in Baltic Square, creating a spectacular race finale.
Whether you’re racing the 5k, challenging yourself in the Junior 3k, or cheering on our U11s, the Spring Edition Quayside races deliver a memorable, accessible, and family-friendly race experience.

Metro and train station is Newcastle Central Station.
There will be NO specific event parking.
If you plan to drive, we recommend using Parkopedia.com to find a suitable public or private parking spot on either the Newcastle or Gateshead side of the Quayside.
Please be aware that some public car parks may be blocked off due to the race road closures.
