Sun Rise To Sun Set - Bude

Whilst the name of the event says it all, there’s a lot more to discover. There are a number of events that cover long distances over significant time periods, but Sunrise to Sunset has to be the one for a rider who is looking for a REAL challenge. Our event is a cross between a Sportive and an Audax, whereby riders have to be self sufficent, but we to do offer “a helping hand.” The event is attractive for many reasons. The route is 100% in Cornwall, which in my opinion is a stunning location to ride a bike in the South of England.

Main key points, it’s circa 180-200 miles loop so you start and finish in the same place, which saves riders the problem in getting back to the start from the event finish. In addition your family / supporters can see you off at the start (if they get up early !) and welcome you back later that day. The icing on the cake is the midpoint, it’s one of the most iconic land marks for a cyclist – Lands End. Where do I sign up I hear you ask, our date is 21/6/2026, starting in Bude, where the sun rises at 05:04 and sets in at 21:35.

The time span to cover the return distance is 16 hours and 31 mins before Sun Set, but the HQ will still be open until 23:00. With all that in mind you will need to ride at about an average speed of 12 mph, which may not seem very fast , however, remember the distance, terrain ,and stopping to refuel.
