Route information

Terrain: Paths (+one small section on trail)

Elevation: Flat

The course takes you through one of Cardiff's iconic parklands, which was once part of the grounds of Cardiff Castle. In 2019, the 10k was nominated as a Top 10 Finalist for the Best 10k Run in the North UK 2019.

The route will weave throughout this impressive green space and all of its iconic sites. The 5k consists of one lap, the 10k is two and the half marathon is 4 laps with an added 1.1k section. There will be marshals on the course to keep runners right as well as a water station, although please take care when you are running and watch out for members of the public.

This race aims to raise money for Shelter, whose mission is to help solve the current housing epidemic across the country. Fundraising is not compulsory.

By Car

There is no parking within Bute Park so please make sure you plan your journey to arrive with time to spare.

From M4, exit junction 32 and follow the A470 to Cardiff city centre. Please use the city centre car parks or on-street meter parking. There are NCP car parks on Westgate Street and Dumfries Place. Have your Westgate Street ticket validated at the Castle for 20% off.

Please arrive with plenty of time to register and warm-up. This minimises stress for you and makes your experience that more enjoyable.

Age Requirements

Children of all ages can take part. Please note that this is under the discretion of a parent/guardian, if they can confidently run 5k/10k unaccompanied they can, as long as there is a parent/guardian onsite at all time.

Cut-Off Time

There will be a cut-off time of 1.5 hours to complete the 5k/10k races and a time of 3 hours for the half marathon.

Race Pack

You must collect your race pack on the day of the event at the registration desk.

Toilets

The toilets are located within the event hub. To avoid long queues, use these facilities with plenty of time.

Bag Drop

There will be a designated area for participants to leave their belonging, however space is limited so the organiser asks that you travel as light as possible.

Water Stations

Water will be available at the start and finish of the race as well as at the 5k mark for 10k runners. Water will be provided in cups, please bring your own water bottle if you require one to run with.
