Trek the West Highland Way – Milngavie to Fort William, Scottish Highlands
Are you ready to take on one of the UK’s most breathtaking long-distance trails? Join us for a 96-mile adventure along the West Highland Way, trekking from Milngavie to Fort William over 4 unforgettable days through the heart of the Scottish Highlands.
You’ll cover almost a marathon a day — so a good level of fitness and a willingness to push yourself are essential. But you won’t be doing it alone. Our friendly support team will be there every step of the way, staffing checkpoints with first aid, drinks, and snacks to keep you fuelled and motivated.
At the end of each day, you’ll arrive at a designated campsite with warm showers and drying facilities — the perfect place to recover, refuel, and share stories from the trail. (Upgrade to shepherds hut or bunk room where available)
From the rolling hills near Glasgow to the dramatic peaks surrounding Fort William, this trek will challenge and inspire you in equal measure. Are you ready to find out what you’re capable of?
Day 1: Milngavie to Balmaha (22 miles)
Day 2: Balmaha to Crainlarich (25 miles)
Day 3: Crainlarich to Kingshouse (25 miles)
Day 4: Kingshouse to Fort William (24 miles)
Over the course of 4 days you will traverse rugged mountains, tranquil lochs, and picturesque glens, immersed in the natural beauty of the Highlands.

Baggage
Optional baggage transfer for your equipment should you want it and if you simply want to enjoy the trek in a leisurely way
Camping
Every evening will be spent at a campsite along the route, offering warm showers, washing facilities, toilets, food, refreshments and camping pitches.
New for 2026: Upgrade to shepherds hut, bell tent, or dorm room where available
Checkpoints
There will be staffed checkpoints every 5-7 miles, where there will be first aid cover, snacks and refreshments.
Please note the mandatory items - unsuitable footwear is our most common kit issue.
Mandatory
  • Walking boots (with ankle support, not trail shoes or trainers)
  • Headtorch
  • Waterproof jacket
  • Waterproof overtrousers (with taped seams)
  • Hiking socks (wearing a single pair recommended, rather than using a liner sock)
  • Backpack (approx. 20-40 litre size)
  • Water container (bottle or Camelbak-style, 1-2 litres)
  • Food & hill snacks (pasta, cereal bars, dried fruit, nuts)
  • Gloves
  • Hat (covering ears)
Recommended clothing
  • Walking trousers or sports leggings (not jeans or tracksuit trousers)
  • Sports top (not cotton)
