Route information

This trail event based in Hanson Hills Recreation Area is the perfect opportunity to escape the city and take on this huge challenge with your team. Based less than one hour from Traverse City, your team of 8 (or 4 for an even bigger challenge) will take turns running over two days, through the night, on three single-track trails, truly experiencing what the Michigan countryside has to offer. Be surrounded by luscious forests with endless Pine and Maple, over rolling hills with picturesque views. At night, take a minute to appreciate the billions of stars lighting the way (plus your headlamp).
The Ragnar Village never fails to create a vibrant atmosphere, you'll be chilling and partying with your friends and meeting amazing competitors. Campfires, s'mores, music, all in the fresh air and under the stars (and some well-deserved rest between runs). Teams are welcome to arrive early for a bonus day of camping and fun.
Green Loop
Distance - 3 miles
Elevation Gain - 423.18 feet
All trail loops start from the Ragnar Village. The Green Loop follows the same start as the Yellow and Red loops, along the cross-country ski trails out to the main section. The path then splits from the Yellow and Red route onto single-track paths where the fun begins. Soon after, you'll be met with the first climb over the first mile, and rewarded with a view of the scenic bluffs of Michigan's forest countryside. This trail has a great undulating flow and before long, you'll rejoin the other trails and descend into the Ragnar Village.
Yellow Loop
Distance - 6 miles
Elevation Gain - 752.7 feet
The Yellow Loop leaves Ragnar Village along the same paths as the other trails, and splits from the Green Trail after a 1/2 mile, then splits from the Red Trail shortly after. Take in the forest air as you run over rolling hills surrounded by beautiful Pines and Maples. Before long, you'll rejoin the other trails and descend into the Ragnar Village. Please contact the Race Director if you plan to take on the course as an adaptive athlete. All-terrain wheelchair accessible.
Red Loop
Distance - 7.8 miles
Elevation Gain - 919.98 feet
The Red Loop promises to make you smile as you take on some of the event's fastest, most enjoyable trails. Once again, this trail follows the same exit out of the Ragnar Village and splits after the first hill. Push yourself for an 8-mile experience which will make you feel unstoppable. Please contact the Race Director if you plan to take on the course as an adaptive athlete. All-terrain wheelchair accessible.
