Route information

Ragnar Trail Wisconsin is back and it’s still the best running party under the stars. Runners come together on September 19-20, 2025, at Nine Mile Forest - nestled ten miles outside of Wisconsin’s outdoor mecca, Wausau. Nine Mile Forest is known for cross-country ski trails but when the snow melts, there are miles of epic single-track running trails waiting just for you.
Your team of 8 (of 4)  runners will set out to conquer a series of three challenging trails that meander under a canopy of oak, pine and birch trees. And when the sun goes down, run the night away with headlamps and a billion stars lighting the way. Just because this is the Midwest, doesn't mean the route won't be technical as you hop over roots and rocks, so get ready for a challenge. Any level of runner can come to conquer these twisty turny trails as you find yourself in this journey of adventure, self-discovery and sheer nature-loving goodness.

Age Restrictions
Runners must be 12 or older to participate. Any participant under the age of 18 must have a parent or legal guardian sign a waiver. Any team with one or more participant(s) under the age of 18 must also have at least 1 adult (25 or older) with them at the race. The adult can camp with the team at no cost and can pace minor runners.
Pace
Your team must have an average of at least an 11-minute per mile pace to finish the course in the specified timeline. Don't worry if you don't hit that pace, we will work with you so you can still complete the course as a team and get your medals.
Safety Gear
Every runner should have a good headlamp. It is recommended to have one with 70 lumens or more.
Event Rules
The rules outlined below are enforced and include Venue, Permitting, City/County/State, and Ragnar that may directly affect our permits and legal compliance. Violations of rules listed below and in the Trail Race Guide may result in disqualification. Officials may also disqualify teams on the spot without prior warning for what they deem to be serious rule violations.
TAKE NOTHING: Take nothing but photos. Leave natural or historic objects as you find them.
LEAVE NOTHING: No littering. Leave nothing but footprints.
NO DOGS: No dogs on the course, at the campsite, in the Village, or at the event. We love dogs too, but this is a safety issue for participants and for the dogs. Service dogs (not ESA) are allowed, but they must remain on a leash at all times.
NO GENERATORS: No generators are allowed in the campsite, village, or on course.
NO DRONES: Non-official use of drones is prohibited without special approval.
NO CAMPFIRES: Propane or other cooking stoves are permitted, but no open flame campfires.
NO LEAVING YOUR VEHICLE at Gear Drop - Not even “just a minute” or “really quick I promise.”
NO PARKING is allowed in the Village, camping, along any road, or in the Gear Drop area because we are obligated to keep lanes open for emergencies. Any vehicle found unattended in these areas will be towed and your team may incur penalties.
QUIET HOURS: 10pm-6am - please be respectful of your fellow Ragnarians during these times.
